Chip Handling

Cutting down chips correctly is an essential skill for a croupier. It looks easy to do but trust that it takes a LOT of practice to to it really slick and smooth and to find 5's and 4's every time with ease. It doesn't look that hard, but if you try do it you'd probably struggle to get it right without a good few tries.

Cutting down chips as shown in the video below is important for the croupier to provide clarity to themselves, the customer, the inspector and the cameras that the correct amount of chips are being issued.

With the exception of the #25 chips (ponys), all chips are cut into blocks of five.

Ponys are cut into block of 4 so that each stack is #100.

You may think as a player you dont need to know anything about cutting down chips but I can vouch that learning the techniques helps you a lot when counting and working with your own chips stack in live casino games. I will make some of my own tutorials but for now, heres one video I found earlier that tells you how to cut down your chips.
How to cut down chips:

Making your chips into workable stacks of five by cutting them down in this manner is a good and rewarding skill to learn. When you have mastered the cutting down, you can move onto roll cutting your chips. This can be a handy method to call a bet or place a chip in a casino game and generally is a good skill for mastering control over a stack of chips.
